A panel of scientists and other experts will talk about the state's plan to spray pesticides from airplanes over San Francisco and other Bay Area cities.
The panel will discuss spraying, its possible health effects, and why the moth isn’t the agricultural emergency the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is making it out to be. Among the panelists will be UC Entomologist Dr. James Carey, Stacia Lansman M.D., farmer John Russo, and Marin Organics Executive Director, Helge Hellberg. State Senator Carole Migden, State Assemblyman Mark Leno, and San Francisco Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi will also speak. There will be time for the public to ask questions and make comments.
The Town Hall meeting is being offered by a coalition of concerned San Francisco residents and elected officials who want to inform the public about the planned pesticide sprayings and what can be done in response.
